This is our way of thanking you for your invaluable contribution to our country. With your remittances which amounted to $23 billion in 2011, you have helped keep the nation’s economy afloat even during the global crunch. You have sent children to school, sheltered them with decent homes and fed them with what used to be luxury foods when you were here. But the price you paid was enormous. You’ve been through extreme sacrifices. You have experienced various forms of discrimination, cultural shocks, loneliness and even subhuman treatment. But you persevered and kept your focus on your dreams. You may have missed countless important family affairs –birthdays, anniversaries, Christmases, graduations – and most of all - the growing years of your children. Those years have passed - no rewinding nor replay. But through it all, you have kept up your faith.
Thank you for the hard work and diligence. Thank you for showing to the world that we, Pinoys are capable of delivering world class performance. Mabuhay ka PINOY!
